A kitchen really is the heart of the home. Yeah yeah I know everyone has seen cribs, but in my house this is where the magic happens. For my life to function correctly the kitchen has to be well kept and put together or else I will go insane. It took me a minute to get my last kitchen in order. You can see some of that process here.
The pictures below are from before we moved in. It's really fun to share these before pictures so that one day we can all look back and see what the house once was. This is what we fell in love with, even though we have plans to change some things we still love this house for what it is.
The previous owners remodeled the kitchen, but it's not quite up to my standards or style. (no offense previous owners) I am, however, in love with the tile floors. After we got the living room in order I got started on painting the kitchen. The robin's egg blue was taking over, so it was the first thing to go. I previously stated in this post that I wanted to paint the kitchen the same color as the adjacent living room to make the two spaces one unit, but I chose against it for two reasons. 1. The Clair de Luna paint color that I fell in love with in the living room did not look the same color in the kitchen. Paint colors do that you know depending on the lighting. 2. I was afraid if I used the same buttery-yellow paint color it might have looked a little too much like big bird's house.
So, instead I went with a color a little more beige. But sadly I misplaced my notes on the exact paint color I used for the kitchen. It is a Behr paint. I know that much :(
Here's what we are currently working with...
You can see in the picture above how the living room paint color blends nicely with the kitchen paint color. I bet you are wondering why I still have two blue walls...We have plans to lower and paint the cabinets along with removing the set above the window, so I am waiting until the cabinets are taken down to finish my painting. It may give us more motivation to get the project completed. My other half thinks it's bizarre having a lamp in the kitchen, what do you think?
Paint walls (half way done)
-Change out canned lighting for something like this
-Add wall art
-Built-in bench seat under window
-Paint & Lower cabinets like this
-Window treatment needed above sink
-Crown molding (one day)
And might I add how wonderful it is to have a dishwasher. We haven't had one since we lived with our parents.
